A Minor Fender Bender Could Mean Major Body Damage

woman in car accidentYou might think you have had a minor crash that will not result in any injury. Most people are surprised to find out that most injuries from car accidents happen when traveling between 6-12 miles per hour, with little or no damage to the vehicle! You might not even feel symptoms for a few days or weeks afterward.

A New Florida Law

In 2013, a new law took effect in Florida that states if you have been involved in a car accident, you must seek medical attention within 14 days of the accident. If you do not, you will forfeit any right to medical coverage under your auto insurance. Despite what some people, including insurance agents or adjusters may erroneously lead you to believe, chiropractic care IS still, and alway has been COVERED by the terms of you auto insurance policy in Florida, regardless of who is at fault in the crash.

Connecting Old Injuries to New Symptoms

After over 25 years in practice, we have seen dozens or even hundreds of people who come in with an injury months after a minor car crash. They might be having neck pain or numbness in their extremities and do not connect their problem with the accident they were involved in months ago. We often find disc or ligament damage that can only be explained by trauma.

Seek Care Within 14 Days
